I've been distracted

So I know that I promised some update action based on the (mis)adventures that Eliza and I had while the wife was gone.  We had a great time, and when we were wrapping things up last Sunday, Indy kinda had this storm blow through that trashed the neighborhood.  I would classify it as tornado like winds dropping limbs, trees, chimneys and the like.  So, distracted from this blog thingy.

So, back to E and me.  She hates drinking.  From any type of vessel.  Somebody got a lot of soupy oatmeal.  I was actually able to spoon feed her water.  Yep, she would take it from a spoon, but not a bottle or sippy cup.  Kids. (back story, all of my kids have abhorred a bottle like nature does a vacuum).  Also figured out that when we are at home, she is looking for the rest of the family.  So, we spend some time out and about.  Went out for dinner, to the mall, hung at the Children's Museum, church, etc.  She was an absolute doll and peach when we were in public.  So, if you are looking for the crazy, frazzle the parent horror story, the closest we come it trying to get her to drink something.  Even eating food from me, she did alright.

So, the neighborhood.  Thankfully, we didn't have any trees or limbs fall down, just some dead twigs and branches.  We did incur some damage...

R.I.P. Playhouse.

As Ian put it, "O NO!  O NO!" (with hands on face).

As Lydia put it, "We have a nice stage."

Thankfully, this was the most damage that we incurred.  Not even a shingle blown off or fence panel felled.  Because the wind came straight from the north, even the garden on the south side of the house came out unscathed.  What could have been the most expensive damage was averted by a last minute decision on my part (even though it was unrelated to the impending storm, at least in any way that you would think of it).

Yep, could have lost the back window with that one, but I had moved the car back so that the rain would wash off part of the drive.

So, that is the big events around here and what has kept me distracted.  No, I didn't have anything to clean up, but is has taken the rest of the 'hood most of the week to get everything straightened up.  Shame, because some nice trees were lost or so damaged that they had to come down.  O yeah, we also lost power for 16 FRIGGIN' hours with this storm.  Didn't sleep too well that night.  But life goes on and school starts up tomorrow.

Until next time, Simpson out.
